As we prepare to endure the harsh weather and head on over to Randall's Island for what's sure to be a mud fest of a Governors Ball, we have one final itinerary to divulge. With weather reports indicating the sky will reveal plenty of blue this Sunday, we're pretty stoked for the illustrious lineup that's scheduled to perform on Sunday. Although we'll be spending most of our time at the main stage, we thought we'd still let you know why we're there.
This Midwestern dream pop crew will be the perfect intro to what's expected to be the one-and-only fair weather day of Governors Ball weekend. We invited them to our party down in Austin, and they RSVP'd with an outstanding performance that you can watch below.
I saw these guys a few years back at Bonnaroo, and they put on one hell of a show. And an FYI to the fellas, there are always smokeshow babes at Portugal. The Man concerts. Oh, and apparently they're friends with the guys on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia...
If you're unfamiliar with Foals, their dance party inducing live performance will be the perfect ice breaker. If you have experienced Foals live, we wouldn't expect you to be at any other stage during this time slot. We recently got Yannis and co. to unwind in the desert following their performance at Coachella.
This is certainly the most difficult time slot to choose as Beirut and Yeasayer will both be playing on opposing stages, but Grizzly Bear's Shields could be considered one of the best albums of 2012, and after personally seeing their magical performance at Radio City in the fall, I don't think I'll ever skip out on an opportunity to see them live.
Kanye's recent performance of "Black Skinhead" on SNL was striking. I don't know if I've ever been so personally excited for an album's release. With a single song, Kanye wiped his tabloid slate clean. All I can think about is Yeezus, and on Sunday, we'll surely get some more.
