Last week, Trent Reznor surprised everyone by announcing new Nine Inch Nails music would be coming soon, and that it would be "fucking great." He wasn't lying. Last night, the first track from NINs' forthcoming Halo 28: Hesitation Marks (9/3), "Came Back Haunted", was released. This is NINs' first work since 2008's The Slip, and frankly is already better than anything Reznor's side project How to Destroy Angels has put out over the last few years. It is vintage Nine Inch Nails, with Reznor's pained yet melodic voice coming through over a pulsating beat, complete with glitchy, wobbly waves of synth and well-timed instrumental breakdowns.

NIN have announced an expanded world tour, and will be joined by fellow industrial-rock giants, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, as well as post-rockers Explosions in the Sky. With bassist Eric Avery leaving the band, Reznor has employed former NIN guitarist Robin Finck to play bass and guitar during the reunion tour.
