This year marks the 20th anniversary of Soundgarden's 1994 album Superunknown. In honor of the anniversary they are releasing two different deluxe edition reissues, which come with demos, B-sides and rehearsals. This week they visited New York City to celebrate the anniversary with a few shows. On Monday, they held a personal performance of the full album at Webster Hall.
On Tuesday night they gave a strong rendition of "Spoonman" and "My Wave" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Chris Cornell delivers his signature gritty vocals and gives an interesting mingling of discorded riffs. They also told of the production process behind "My Wave" and their rendering of "The Star Spangled Banner" backstage, in a web exclusive interview.
Soundgarden will be co-headlining a North American Tour starting June 18th, with longtime rivals Nine Inch Nails. They are also co-headlining the Pemberton Music Festival in Pemberton, British Columbia.
