Even the most crotchety old librarian wouldn't shush the cool lullaby of Iron and Wine's
Sam Beam. While many have found his latest record, Ghost on Ghost
, to be a departure from his earlier work, his recent session filmed at the Boston Public Library for WBUR will prove otherwise. Beam stands alone - sans maracas and brass section - in the cavernous space, armed only with his acoustic guitar to play the album's opening track "Caught in the Briars". It's quite breathtaking; an description that's become familiar with Iron and Wine's music.
