Okay, folks so we're gonna do something different today. Today, we're going to mix in a track review with the rumor mill. First things first, let's touch on "Hype" by Dizzee Rascal
& Calvin Harris
. "Hype" is a solid electronic/dance song that uses a high pitched synth melody throughout the entirety of the song, and like most of Harris' chart-toppers, it strikes a delicate balance between the instrumental and the vocalist taking the lead.
While "Hype" definitely isn't charting any new territory with its production or lyrics, it'll definitely make for a great song to perform during festival sets this summer. Ultimately, there isn't much to talk about with "Hype" since it's mostly an interpolation throughout the song. I personally like both Dizzee Rascal and Calvin Harris as solo artists, but this pairing feels lackluster. Maybe I need to hear it in a sweaty EDM club, until then, this one just isn't quite for me.
Listen to "Hype":
Now, on to the other hype in Calvin Harris' life. Apparently last week, Mr. Harris had some petty things to say on Instagram about his ex-lover Taylor Swift. According to Calvin Harris' bizarre social media engagement with a fans and trolls, Swift "controlled the media and this situation, I had no idea what was going on. So that kind of makes it a lot worse from my perspective." Aside from the run-on sentence from Calvin Harris, he's apparently done with the Taylor Swift hype. When a fan accused him of being jealous of Taylor Swift, Harris simply replied "Not jealous sir. FREE." Now that that's covered, I'm gonna go sip my tea because Calvin Harris has been handling his post-Taylor life in the best way possible, on a boat surrounded by beautiful people.
