We've got another shining pop-folk gem for all you people who like word-play and records that read like stories. Yes, this is another abroad based broad (she lives in the UK), but luckily she grew up right here in our backyard: Long Island, New York. Don't worry, these songs have less to do with new haircuts, and more to do with love in New York City. Meet Jaymay.

She grew up playing open mics here in the city, where her love of Bob Dylan and good books developed into a desire to write music. These are not the "stupid, stupid songs" she used to write about her dog. Now it's more like a laid back Regina Spektor with a penchant for writing stories and whistling. The album, Autumn Fallin' (Blue Note) is kind of like it's own novel of Jaymay's craft, spinning the story of Autumn turning into Winter. It's good music for a cup of tea and a blanket. Although, we heard her live show is the reason the EP Sea Green, See Blue was an iTunes indie spotlight, so maybe you should try and catch the action when she rolls through the US this month. Autumn Fallin' is in stores now. -joe puglisi
