The Internet got a hold of a gem today when The xx
released the new video for their song "I Dare You" off of their latest album I See You
. The xx never disappoint when it comes to aesthetically pleasing videos which complement their songs so well. It's shot like an 80s flick and the video, accompanied by the moving music, oozes with nostalgia. This video is another beauty scripted to the embodiment of teenage angst and uncertainty.
The vid starts with Stranger Things'
Millie Bobby Brown missing her bus to school. She's absolutely adorable as she chases her bus while yelling, "Come back, you left a student behind!" Seems like she really wanted to go to school... Such a good kid. She then goes home where she plots her way to a journey for the day. Her older sister and her boyfriend take Brown to a "haunted" place that seems pretty dope and not haunted at all as The xx perform.
The song name "I Dare You" is about daring yourself to love and be loved. We're all afraid of rejection, but if you never reach out you'll never fall in love or have your heart broken. We've all wondered what if, and this song is about daring yourself to go beyond the what-ifs and give your heart a chance to feel and bleed for another.
