For 14 years lead singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen Lee Orzolek, better known as Karen O, has graced us with her voice, but without a single solo effort. Finally, the singer is taking on such an endeavor as she has signed with Cult Records, the label of The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas, to release her debut solo LP, Crush Songs on September 9th.

At first the album will be released as a limited-edition deluxe vinyl incorporating 15 cards of Karen's personal drawings with hand-written lyrics. Then it will be available digitally and single vinyl release. The LP features songs that were recorded in 2006 and 2007.

In a note on her website she stated: "When I was 21, I crushed a lot. I wasn't sure I'd ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They were the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours."

    You can pre-order it now.

The closest thing to a solo song we've heard from Ms. O was her Oscar-nominated Spike Jonze collab. "The Moon Song" off the Her soundtrack.
