Muting Music Videos: Letting Sex Tell the Story

Since the dawn of the music video, sex has long been a recurring element in music videos. Whether it was a babe shaking her stuff on the hood of a Camaro in the 80s, or a slow tilt of a smokin' dude bod in the 90s (see D'Angelo's "Untitled"), its uses have been a major selling point of the music and the artists themselves. After the MTV music video era came to an end, the sexy nature of this art form erupted with the freedom of online sharing. Although YouTube has its limits on graphic content, alternative video sharing sources (LIKE US!) are more than willing to show a random nipple or even Wayne Coyne's wang.

Watching these sultry scenes, it's easy to get caught up in the carnal experience, so much so that the visuals themselves tell their own story. To heighten your visual sense, try turning down the sound on these 10 recent videos, all of which feature some pretty hot n' heavy views.

    10. Tame Impala - "Mind Mischief"

Did any teen - boy or girl - not have this fantasy!? I mean, come on! Tame Impala took this common dream and upped the ante with a psychedelic acid trip. Sexy teacher and naked cartoons; what more could a man ask for?

    9. Sky Ferriera - "Red Lips"

If it has Terry Richardson's name attached to it, you know it's naughty and most likely a bit disturbing. Watch Toby the Tarantula crawl all over a nearly naked Ferriera who goes into a beauty-queen-gone-mad lipstick rage.

    8. Water Liars - "Wyoming"

This is the video that inspired this entire list. It wasn't until I was about three minutes into the video that I realized I had my headphones off. I would totally help put her through college, if I wasn't struggling to pay back my own loans.

    7. Die Antworrd - "Cookie Thumper"

Oh my! It's my sexy nightmare!

    6. Diplo - Butter's Theme

The song is meh, but the perplexing video features nice butts and ski masks and what we're convinced is an Ellie Goulding cameo (shortly after the 2:00 mark).

    5. AlunaGeorge - "Attracting Flies"

This video was strange with the sound on, but when you mute it, you're visual senses peak, and you realize how ridiculous it really is. It's a weird ghetto fairy tale taken far too literally. But hey, Aluna Francis is smokin' hot.

    4. Charli XCX - "What I Like"

Like the Tame Impala video, Charli XCX's "What I Like" embodies another boyhood fantasy - the slumber party.

    3. Major Lazer - "Bubble Butt"

There seems to be a trend when it comes to the partnership of Major Lazer and music video director Eric Wareheim - lots of butts. The video is about as bizarre as they come, and it features more big butts than any man can handle. But I'm certainly up for the challenge.

    2. Jillette Johnson - "Pauvre Coeur"

Jillette Johnson is the total package. A killer smokeshow with a dynamite voice. Come to think of it, you should listen to this one with the sound on. We'd never break your heart Jillette!

    1. Miley Cyrus - "We Can't Stop"

Throw away your speakers before listening to this one. No matter how outrageous this video is, however, we can't stop watching it. Somehow Hannah Montana has evolved into a super sexed-up Annie Lenox. HIGHLIGHT: Somewhere between the giant teddy bear backpacks and the dry humping, Miley gets kicked in the back of the head.
