"Elysium", the latest track from British folk trio Bear's Den, is a lovely prayer for the lost souls of the living. Simple and gentle, the track opens on the hopeful pondering of an after life before straying into musings on a slightly darker existence called life: "I've never felt so enlightened/Every page I turn/I only find myself feeling more alone/Posing questions to a silent universe/My very thoughts are cursed/They just seem to multiply forever in my mind/Brother don't grow up/Brother please never grow up." Inject a gorgeous horn arrangement and musings on death are suddenly infused with urgency and life.
The boys - Andrew Davie, Joey Haynes, and Kevin Jones - have teased us with two EPs and the promise of a forthcoming LP. "Elysium" is set to be released as a single on July 21st. No official word of their much anticipated LP, but with a video for the new track on the way, and a slew of North American summer tour dates, chances are we won't have to wait much longer for that full length debut.
