    Crocodiles first hit the scene with the lo-fi Summer of Hate which got a little lost in the slew of similarly fuzzed-out pop and rock that dominated the blogs last year. It was a good album with some great songs &mdash "I Wanna Kill" was particularly memorable &mdash but seemed to have some trouble distinguishing itself from the the band's influences (read: Psychocandy). Their new single, "Sleep Forever", is going to change all of that.

    Like tourmates The Horrors, Crocodiles have really upgraded since their debut album. They've cleaned up the production and really embraced the things that they do best, leaving the rest behind. "Sleep Forever" is big and anthemic, accessible and inscrutable. It's dark &mdash "the sky above you shatters over you and me and lays us down to sleep forever" &mdash but the music is practically crackling with life. Give it a few listens and, trust me, this will be your new favorite song. -ben krusling
