The Hairs are an indie/lo-fi band based in Brooklyn, NY and they make some kickass music. The latest track, "I Wanna Get A Life" off of their forthcoming album, While I Hated Life, Barbarian, focuses on the band's frontman (Kevin Alvir) as he works through all the trials and tribulations of young adulthood in NYC. From a messy breakup, to money problems, to pretending that you're fine when you're really not, "I Wanna Get A Life" touches on all of it. If you miss that grungy, created in an apartment feel with plenty of power chords attached to it, then this is the record that you've been needing all year.
When asked to speak on The Hairs forthcoming record, Kevin said:
"'I Wanna Get A Life' is pretty true to how I feel/felt. I was reeling from some break-up and I just didn't have anything going on in my life. I felt like a loser and I just heard this mantra in my head. I was pretty broke. I felt like everyone was kind of annoyed with me on some level. I think I had enough of myself at many points. So - write a song about it. Haha.Musically, it brings to mind some stuff I like... Tall Dwarfs and the Ramones (perhaps just in title alone)."
