We can all say goodbye to the "A Thousand Miles" Vanessa Carlton that we knew and frequently drank our morning coffee to. In her new track "Blue Pool," you're taken by the hand and led through a carnival of whimsical carrousels. Lyrically speaking, she's conducted a situation where humans from all walks of life can relate and confide in the soul snatching tune. Allow the track to be that gasp of fresh air surging into your feeble lungs after a long weekend of unadulterated chaos.
Both the bass line and the piano progression in the beginning of the song keeps listeners apprised of the Vanessa Carlton we used to know. But as the carol progresses, so does an 18th century flair of waltzy winds. She's unafraid of being poignant and transparent with her lyrics. She's humbled to the point where just about any logical situation could call for this "Blue Pool" symphony in the back drop. As you take in the song, you may begin to realize exactly why the name is so fitting. Expect to be transcended into the crystal clear waters of a hideaway oasis on the coast of your favorite island.
