GOOD NEWS: Indie singer-songwriter Angel Olsen is finally back with new tunes and everything in the world is good again. Along with the new track, "Intern," she also dropped a self-directed video that features her dancing around in a shiny, silver wig, talking to an interviewer, and hanging out in a dressing room.
It's a new look for her, and with a new look comes a new sound. Her last album, Burn Your Fire For No Witness, was exclusively guitar-driven, while this new track dons lush layers of synths and reverb-soaked background vocals. Its atmospheric feel makes it sound almost as if everything is being played in slow motion. Although she's edging towards a new sound, Olsen seems to be sticking with her minimalistic ways and continuing to show off those mind-blowingly gorgeous pipes.
The whole release seems to be pretty elusive, though. Will fans be angry that she's switching up her sound? We're not exactly sure what the rest of the album is going to sound like, but we like what we've heard so far, and as long as she continues to use that impeccable voice of hers, we will be happy.
