In a summer where the big guns are back on tour doing the reunion thing for a ton of money (Guns-n-roses), the older ones are hanging it up (Black Sabbath), and the hard-charging partying ones have "retired" (Motley Crue). What really matters here, is that if you can't afford to drop mega bucks on the mega tours then maybe SIXX:A.M. is your answer.
Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue fame, DJ Ashba of Axl's Second Guns-n-Roses, and vocalist/producer James Michael are the founding members of this creative collective. Having made their highly anticipated debut almost seven years ago, the band started out as a soundtrack to Nikki Sixx's book of the same name, "The Heroin Diaries." The band quickly rose to fame and up in the charts with their song "Life is Beautiful."
We caught SIXX:A.M. at the Starland Ballroom in NJ. (another adrenaline filled club for all the greatest tough guys) while they were on tour in support of their latest album Prayers For The Damned Vol. 1. From the moment they hit the stage, Nikki, Dj and Michael were eager to please. They were running back in forth, rock horns in the air, jumping up and down on speakers and the crowd was eating up every bit of it. Hands ( and hair) were waving through the air and Nikki seemed like he was free of the Motley grip, while the crowd stayed fixated on DJ Ashba's every move.
Sixx A.M is currently on tour in Europe but will be back in the states later this year.
