Singer-songwriter Madi Diaz has come a long way since her time at the Paul Green School of Rock (she garnered some early fame through a feature in Don Argott's 2005 documentary on the music education program). Her subsequent path has been circuitous, having made her way first to Boston's Berklee College of Music, then to New York, then to Nashville, finally on to her current home of LA. She's toured with The Civil Wars and Landon Pigg, and released two full length albums, 2012's Plastic Moon and We Threw Our Hearts in the Fire, with label TinyOGRE Entertainment.

This week, the pop-folk prodigy is releasing a new EP, The Other Side, featuring the eponymous track off forthcoming full-length Phantom, due for release later this summer. The song sees Diaz shedding her acoustic proclivity — along with any last vestiges of rookie status — and trading charm for seduction as she wreaths steadily building vocals in a cloud of blooming, respirating synths. The EP's two featured remixes aren't anything to miss, either — Gold Fields transmutes the song into a pristine, popped-up runway track, while producer Magic Man goes still another shade darker with Diaz's shadowy, building sound.

The Other Side is out Tuesday, June 3rd. Listen to "The Other Side" below.
