has graced us with their presence and musical gifts twice now, once for a Baeble NEXT Session
, and again for a fiery Bands + Brews Session
. The Washington, DC-based electro-pop trio is led by Chelsea Lee's powerhouse vocals, while twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst provide the colorful production. Each live session displayed the groups undeniable and unique chemistry that knocked the socks off our ears and eyes. In October of last year, SHAED's NEXT Session featured three vibrant tracks off their debut EP Just Wanna See,
and less than a year later they are ready to drop another EP titled Melt,
set to be released on July 27th. July is a time when we all need a little SHAED, right?
Today the band teased the EP by dropping the wildly catchy track, "Silver Knife". The song will definitely remind you of something...if it's on the tip of your tongue, we'll just tell you. Saturday Night Fever
. "Stayin' Alive". The Bee Gees. Yep, that's it. But other than Chelsea Lee channeling her inner Barry Gibb, the track features some serious contrast. You'll be so entranced by the overall bright and poppy sound that it may take a minute to realize just how dark and murderous Lee's lyrics are. The premise of the song is a little twisted, with lyrics like "Standing over you/Look what you made me do". Uhhhh, OK. But yeah...it's ridiculously catchy and impossible not to sing along to.
SHAED is making some seriously sweet tunes...stay tuned for the release of the Melt EP
next month. In the meantime, check out "Silver Knife" and keep your ears open for their track in the new national TV ad campaign for Victoria's Secret.
