Once a singer/producer in Vampire Weekend, Rostam Batmanglij has decided to venture off on his own to work on his solo album titled Half-Light, coming out September 8. A few songs were released recently off the 15-track album including "Gwan" and "Bike Dream." Three other songs: "EOS," "Wood," and "Gravity Don't Pull Me" dropped last year and will be on the album as well. It begins with a fervent cello, followed by Rostam's voice. It's a very personal song, "don't listen to me, I only believe myself, so I'm going somewhere to do that alone," and when the beat picks up for the chorus it'll stir some butterflies in your stomach. "Bike Dream" has a different vibe to it; it's more of a feel-good rock song, and not nearly as sad as "Gwan." All of the songs together are hopeful and exciting, which is how we feel about the forthcoming album as a whole.
