"Warning Signs" emits both a sweetness and an eeriness from Eilen Jewell
in her new album Queen of the Minor Key
. Her clear, smooth voice are backed up with an organ, saxophone, and electric guitar, all of which create a synthesis of country, folk, and 60's rock styles.
The lyrics of "Warning Signs" including, "all your bad juju and all your weird voodoo made me go blind" mirror the creepiness of her instrumentals. In Jewell's "Warning Signs" the listener is thrown into a mystical world of "black widows," "rattle snakes," and "ravens," that one may typically want to avoid, but with the lure of Jewell's sweet and powerful voice, she persuades us to enter her wicked utopia.
