There has been no shortage of great, UK acts (The xx, Alt-J, CHVRCHES) taking aim at our side of the Atlantic with an updated version of trip hop, stripped to its elemental essence, impeccably clean, and perfectly packaged for your immediate appetite. With molecular ribbons of guitar, splatters of electronic expressionism, and well-rounded beats/grooves, University bred (go figure) trio London Grammar
might be the next group to nudge up nice and cozy with North America. The real pitch here is singer Hannah Reid, who hones the kind needle-jumping vocals none of the aforementioned artists can claim. If she sounds familiar you've probably spent a lot of time with Disclosure's
latest release, Settle
. That album's closing track is a collaboration between the brotherly electronic duo and London Grammar...another big reason we think this band is staring directly into a mighty bright future.
Have a listen to "Metal & Dust", the title track from the band's debut EP, currently available in the UK and streaming HERE
if you live stateside.
