Mother's Day is right around the corner and this track by Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats
is exactly what you need to help you get in the mood. Ok, not so much a mood but...ALL THE FEELS! "Hey Mama" is the Denver-based band's second single from their newest album, Tearing At The Seams
The video stars Nathaniel and (Night Sweat's bassist and best bud) Joseph Pope III's mothers and the rest of the band's extended Denver family. The video was directed by Rett Rogers, who incorporated intimate family home movies into the clip and shot the video in Rateliff and Pope's hometown of Hermann, MO. The intimacy of this video is what will have you catching all the feels and wanting to phone your own mama right away to tell her how much you appreciate and love her. No, for real..view the video for yourself and you'll see what I mean.
Pope recently had this to say of the video: "I was reticent at first to ask our mothers to have such a prominent role in the video and wanted them to be aware of the potential scrutiny involved with making something so intimate as ‘a day in the life' so public. In the end, it made me feel much closer to my mother. You grow up within a family's daily routines and are shaped by them. Nathaniel and I moved away, and we developed our separate lives. To see a day in the life of my mom, through her very eyes, is such an immense gift to me. The themes of thankfulness, loss, struggle and time that are deep within all of our relationships are on display here."
