Singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt
recently graced us all with some much needed, full-on flowery spring vibes. During her Baeble NEXT Session taping last month, the 23 year-old Scottish singer opened with her song "Best You Had", which was inspired by the end of a relationship and the feelings involved in seeing the person move on quicker than expected. "It's basically how your own ego gets confused with your actual feelings for somebody," she told us before performing the song. Anyone who has been through a breakup can easily relate as she adds, "It's kind of saying you know, you can go off and be with whoever you want as long as it's not better than me or what we had."
Nesbitt grew up listening to a lot of pop, which explains the kind of music she creates nowadays. On growing up surrounded by the music of pop divas like Britney Spears
, Christina Aguilera
, and Mariah Carey
, Nesbitt had this to say: "I think that actually was really helpful because now I feel like I naturally write pop music and I love pop music. I think it's just subconsciously in there from the amount I listen to." Her love for mainstream pop might have been what initially made her interested in pursuing music, but her style of writing was later influenced by the likes of Alanis Morissette
. "The lyrics...I had never heard lyrics so brash and I loved it and I was like, I wanna write like that, I wanna do that!" she told us of her first encounter with Morrissette's music.
Needless to say, the girl is a star on the rise who has been developing her craft for about five years now.
NIna also released a new song titled "The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change".
