Music Video Premiere: Black Taxi

Black Taxi have an interesting stash of sounds coiling around this live recording of their jam "Friend". The verses seem soulful and semi-loungy, but turn abrupt corners on their approach into choruses that reminisce of all those fun Franz Ferdinand sing-alongs from back in the day. Chirpy guitar shreds find a few moments to take off, only to plunge into an ocean of grungy undertones. Something also happens with a muted trumpet. It sounds kind of weird on paper, except this band of Brooklynites make it work in memorable, head clinging ways. The video and live capture of the song was recorded at Bad Racket Studios in Cleveland OH and we're feeling pretty good the band chose us to debut it for the world to see. Enjoy. The song is from their current release We Don't Know Any Better.
