John Mayer has definitely loosened up for the better in recent years. After nearly killing his career in a single foot-in-mouth interview, blowing out his vocals chords, reinventing himself as a mild-mannered troubadour, and hanging out with the Grateful Dead for a while, Mayer has made it back into the spotlight with a new back-to-basics album, The Search For Everything, and a world tour to boot. With nothing much else to prove, the singer-songwriter seems to be taking it chill and doing what he feels like doing, from dancing with pandas to jamming out with friends like Ryan Adams.

Last night at Ansterdam's Ziggo Dome, things became even more chill when Mayer casually pulled out an acoustic cover of Drake's "Passionfruit," the hit track off of the rapper's playlist/for-Christ's-sake-just-call-it-an-album, More Life. The cover is exactly what fans expect and love from John Mayer, complete with acoustic guitar, warm vocals, and an intimacy that makes a packed stadium feel like a cozy coffee shop. This dreamy version of the song might be in reference to the fact Drake canceled his show at the Ziggo Dome in March, making it the third time he bailed on performing in the Dutch capital. But hey, coincidences are a hell of a thing, right? Regardless of intention, Mayer killed it with his take on the song, so check it out above.
