Folk artist One Little Plane
, moniker of Kathryn Bint, has been quietly gathering attention for her two albums, 2008's Until
and Into The Trees
, which comes out on May 7. Quietly gathering attention, that is, until now. One Little Plane is the latest recipient of the Radiohead
bump: a surefire way to expand your fan base by around 10,000%.
Colin Greenwood, bassist of Radiohead, linked One Little Plane's Soundcloud to the creepy, cultish Radiohead blog Dead Air Space
. Also, whoever is at the controls of the Radiohead twitter decided to plug
One Little Plane's new album. So, yeah, expect to be booking arena tours sometime soon Kathryn.
This is the first time we've heard of One Little Plane, but we like what we hear so far. The acoustic instrumentation is a little bit like the work of Phil Selway's solo work, the drummer for Radiohead, and Bint's voice is simultaneously fragile and powerful. Both of the tracks are lead by acoustic guitar and voice, but they are bolstered by some well placed xylophone and effected electric guitar. I can just imagine Thom Yorke whipping his neck around to Bint's jams. Check out "Hold You Down" and "She Was Out in the Water" below.
