LeVar Burton, aka Geordi, aka Toby, aka Kunta Kinte, is a television and film personality that helped raise millions of 90s kids, myself included, as the soft-spoken host of the iconic daytime educational series Reading Rainbow. The show was taken off the air back in 2006, however, Burton wants to bring it back in a whole new way in an attempt to abate the rising illiteracy and high school drop-out rates of kids in the United States.

Burton recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project, which is already nearing $100,000 of its targeted $1 million goal. According to the campaign, these funds will help develop a web-enabled Reading Rainbow for both at-home and classroom use, and will provide it for free for to disadvantaged school systems.

Watch the Kickstarter campaign's video below, and donate to the project HERE.

This dude has not aged a day, but you don't have to take our word for it...

Even if Reading Rainbow didn't inspire you to explore Charlotte's Web, we're willing to bet its Chaka Khan theme song still stirs up as an earworm from time to time. And because I've been waiting ages for an excuse to use this DMX remix, here are a few recycled renditions of the tune.
