Yesterday at 2:30 PM, Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós released track one off their new album, með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust on their website. The track, "Gobbledigook" pretty much sounds like, well, gobbledigook. The lyrics are basically nonsense to our American ears, but the music and vocals are so lush and instrumentaly and melodically filling, that we almost don't need to know or care what they are actually saying: the song is beautiful.

These guys have a strong background in minimalist post-rock, with great instrumentation and arrangements, and have collaborated with Radiohead in the past. They've also been around, for like, eleven years. So if you haven't checked them out yet, now is the time. The new album title literally translates to "with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly." Lets hope that holds as well, because if the track is any indication of the qualitiy of the album, this is going to be one to watch for sure. It drops in North America on June 24th. -joe puglisi

UPDATE: On the site, the song is paired with a free music video as well. It's, um, well, let's just say there is a reason it's marked NSFW on all the blogs. It's pretty artsy, but we like it. Check it out.
