Last night UK band Crystal Fighters
used their time in New York City to do an intimate acoustic performance at Soho House. Despite the rain ruining the plan for a rooftop show, in the 6th floor dining room, the band played to a packed house of club members, music lovers, and friends (and those labels aren't mutually exclusive). They sounded like a tropical distraction, and a much needed one, considering the gloomy weather in New York.
The band was coming off a successful night at Music Hall of Williamsburg (and we were there, pictures coming soon). We chatted briefly with bandmember Gilbert Vierick on the roof-- the band is staying in Red Hook, he never gets to stay in New York long enough, and he warned us about just how racist the entirety of England is (outside of London of course). Advice heeded!
The band played a handful of songs, including their signature tune of the moment, "Plage."
Their 2010 album Star of Love
is their most recent full-length release.
