Give it five seconds and Big Thief
will immediately have you entangled in their new song "Mythological Beauty." The track, from their upcoming album Capacity
which is out on June 9th, much like its title, is most certainly beautiful. Lead woman Adrianne Lenker's subdued vocals mixed with swirling acoustic guitars make for a fresh yet nostalgic tune that makes the listener feel like they should be sitting around a bonfire. Lenker starts letting out a scream, "You held me in the backseat with a dishrag, soaking up blood with your eyes / I was just five and you were twenty-seven, praying 'don't let my baby die.'"
The somber music can be deceiving, but don't let it fool you: Lenker is telling an important story.
