On Saturday, for the fourth time since the release of "Love" helped me brood through February, Lana Del Rey debuted a new song from her forthcoming album, Lust for Life. The new track is called "Cherry" and she performed it at KROQ Weenie Roast Y Fiesta in Carson, CA. With a melody like curling smoke in a hazy room, the song hints that Lust for Life will provide more of the noir flavor that fans have come to expect. Del Rey also continues to deliver the unabashedly submissive lyrics that have earned her both devotion and criticism, singing, "darling, I fall to pieces when I'm with you."

Following her live performance of "Cherry" Del Rey released the video for her upcoming album's title track today. The video features Lana and The Weeknd canoodling on top of the Hollywood sign which Lana climbs after escaping from a retro video shoot. Like several videos from Lana's Honeymoon album, "Lust for Life" is mostly shots of a somewhat vacant Lana singing. This time the backdrop shifts between a starry sky, distant LA lights, and - briefly - a random field of flowers. The highlight of this video is unquestionably The Weeknd's John Lennon-style sunglasses. While I'm not the biggest fan of the video, I am still excitedly awaiting May 26, the expected release date of a promising Lust for Life album.
