I caught Tennis
at the Music Hall of Williamsburg last week. My write-up of the show hasn't gone live yet -- mostly cause I haven't had time to edit my photos -- but it got me thinking about when we had the chance to shoot the Colorado duo at Webster Hall last year. Tennis have become masters of warm and enveloping New Romantics revivalism without indulging in poppy bombast. It's understated in a time when bands are too focused on hitting on all cylinders every second of their songs. Tennis takes the time to worm its way under your skin with often subversive energy.
