Governors Ball 2014 Schedule Conflicts

The 2014 Governors Ball schedule was revealed today and it's packed with itinerary conflicts. Although the festival architects did a hell of a job by doubling up time slots with contradictory genres and fanbase demographics, those who have eclectic musical tastes might have a difficult time selecting a stage during the following dilemmas...

    FRIDAY, JUNE 6th

Kurt Vile and the Violators vs. Ratking

At 2:15 PM, New York will face off against Philly as Ratking invades the Gotham Tent and Kurt Vile takes the Big Apple Stage. In this case, the up-and-coming hometown heroes are your best bet, as a gripping taste of fresh hip-hop will be the ideal starter for your weekend adventure. And Kurt Vile has his own holiday in Philly...let's hear it for the underdog!

    Damon Albarn vs. OutKast

Friday evening's closing performances come from two acts who are both having monumental 2014s. OutKast will be performing one of their many festival reunion shows on the GovBallNYC Stage, while Damon Albarn unveils his debut solo record for New York City fans on the opposing Honda Stage. Considering how much we've enjoyed Albarn's Everyday Robots, and how obnoxiously crowded the OutKast set will be (see Kanye West at Gov Ball 2013), we're going to get our sway on with Mr. Tembo.

    SATURDAY, JUNE 7th

    Deafheaven vs. Tanlines

Are you someone who enjoys kicking their day off with a mimosa or a boilermaker? At 2:15 PM Tanlines dispense their easy-to-digest psych pop from the Big Apple Stage while Deafheaven unearths their dazzling darkness in the Gotham Tent...which is where you'll probably find us.

    The Strokes vs. Childish Gambino

The Strokes will make their first festival performance in three years on the GovBallNYC Stage at 6:45 PM when suddenly Childish Gambino will invade the Honda Stage at 7:00 PM. Unless you're really hung up on the loss of Community, we'd suggest seeing The Strokes, as you never know if it'll be your last chance to do so.

    Jack White vs. Skrillex

Saturday night will end with two of music's most enigmatic solo artists. If you have a thing for neon, and you're looking to score some club drugz, we suggest hitting the Honda Stage, however, if you already have your fix, and want to hear a crazy blues fiend rip on Skrillex, hit the GovBallNYC Stage.

    SUNDAY, JUNE 8th

    Tyler, the Creator vs. AlunaGeorge

Although AlunaGeorge promises to be one hell of a Sunday afternoon dance party inside of the Gotham Tent at 3:45, hitting the Big Apple Stage for Tyler, the Creator promises the absence of any Team Buzzfeed LOLs...just WTFs...
