Chicago-based electronic trio Autograf
are up to a lot of exciting things. They recently made their second appearance at Coachella last month which perfectly coincided with the release of their lyric video for "You Might Be" ft. Lils. It's not your typical lyric video; directed by Patricia Gloum, it features much more than just lyrics. It follows people, some with balloons underneath their clothes while others bathe in flowers, and although something about it is a bit disturbing, it's also rewarding to watch them move freely throughout. We thought we'd ask the producers/multi-instrumentalists a couple of questions about the video as well as Coachella, which you can see below.
You played Coachella earlier this month. How'd your set go?
It was amazing. Coachella is a bucket list festival for us. We loved seeing the live show we have built over the last couple years on that stage.
Was that your first time there?
Last year we did a Dj set on the DoLab stage. This year we came back to the same stage to be one of the surprise guests closing out Weekend One.
How was the crowd reacting to your set?
It was good vibes all around. Our sets vary greatly from down tempo chill out to more aggressive bass infused tracks. Seeing everyone take part in that journey with us felt extraordinary.
Can you tell us a little bit about your single "You Might Be"?
The song started with a studio session in LA with Jimmy Harry and Lils. We went in with nothing and left at the end of a long day with most of the song finished! When the studio vibe is just right and you're working with very talented musicians, you can get a lot accomplished.
And you just released the lyric video for the song, which is very dramatic and intricate. What inspired it?
Often, music is an escape, but it's also a way to show acceptance. We really wanted to touch on the emotion the song evokes and to show people from different walks of life connect through music.
