With the release date quickly approaching for Band of Horses new album, Why Are You OK, promotion is in full-swing. Last night, they performed an anthemic rendition of their single, "Casual Party" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Additionally, they did a special web-only performance of, In a Drawer on Colbert.
During their performance of "Casual Party," they were joined onstage by a few peculiar characters: a pink alien, a gold tinsel monster, and a hairy creature that looks straight out of Labyrinth, to name a few. The Seattle-based indie rock group gave a heartfelt and energetic performance as their strange inhuman friends stood still positioned around the stage.
Band of Horses slowed it down for their web-exclusive performance of In a Drawer. It was only the members of the band onstage, darkly backlit in hues of blue and pink. The original track features Dinosaur Jr's J Mascis as backup vocals but he wasnt present for Colbert. The beginning of the song was mellow, allowing frontman Ben Bridwell's vocals to shine. The energy completely shifts as the chorus breaks out into a typical Band of Horses rock session.
Band of Horses has been pretty M.I.A. since the release of their 2012 album Mirage Rock but by the looks of it so far, youll forget all about their absence.
