Today we're premiering a very special album from singer-songwriter Arum Rae titled Sub Rosa. The Latin phrase sub rosa means "under the rose" and is used in English to denote secrecy or confidentiality, similar to the Chatham House Rule. The unplugged record is intimate and melancholic; the stripped back instruments leave room for Rae's voice to shine and boy, does it shine. If you're a fan of Amy Winehouse or Adele, Arum Rae is bound to give you chills (oh yeah, I just compared her to two of the biggest vocalists ever). The album is out everywhere tomorrow, May 19th via Secret Road Records, but you can stream it exclusively here now.

"Sub Rosa is a collection of past, present and future songs in what I consider to be their extra-pure forms," Rae explains. "Some I recorded at home here in Manhattan and some at my friend's studio in Brooklyn. Peeling back the layers for the sake of intimacy... an act that is usually the fast track to heartache, but in this case, a dare in the midst of transition to propel forward."
