Today we're premiering "gothic americana" band Curse of Lono
's new video for their song "Send For The Whisky." What caught my eye about the video is their representation of New York. We follow a group of all female skaters as they roll through the city, doin' cool tricks through a fish eye lens. Directed by Giovanni Reda, we see cool sights like the Williamsburg Bridge and - what might
be Washington Square Park? I can't quite figure it out, but I love trying!
"We're really excited about this video but it's a bitter-sweet feeling to finally get it out there. When the idea came up to make an all-female skateboard video we all imagined a lighthearted bit of fun with some cool visuals that you wouldn't normally associate with this kind of music. As it turned out, all of that has been overshadowed by the fact that the guy who pulled it together isn't here anymore," the band said in reference to Tom Edwards, who passed away in January. He was the guitarist and musical director in Adam Ant's band as well as the boyfriend of Curse of Lono's bassist, Charis Anderson. "Tom was obsessed with skateboarding and he really loved this video. He watched the first few cuts over and over again. Even though he does't play on the track or skate in the video, there's definitely a little part of him in there."
The song is off of the band's latest album Severed
