Poor Miley Cyrus
has had a lot
of phases - some of which were praised while others... Not so much. Personally, I was always a smiler through the thick and thin, and I was never afraid to admit it. As we all know, she started on the hit Disney Channel show Hannah Montana
, then had that whole "Party in the USA" phase, but then she shaved her head and twerked on Robin Thicke and, yeah, needless to say, things went a little south from there. Like I said, I was a fan through it all - yes, I enjoyed the pot-smoking, rainbow-pooping Miley - but this doesn't mean that everyone else did. YouTube and Instagram comments flooded with the likes of "We want the OLD Miley!!!"
And after a few years of waiting, we finally got it.
Miley is back with Liam Hemsworth, so now she is back with her old self. Or she's the same Miley as always, just more... Sober? Last week she released her comeback single "Malibu"
and sure, she's singing about her love for "Malibu" but really
it's her love for Hemsworth that drives the story. Even the artwork for the single was taken by Hemsworth.
The singer performed the song for the first time this past weekend at Los Angeles radio station KIIS-FM's Wango Tango festival and she nailed it. Rockin' a simple all-white outfit and sun-kissed golden locks, Miley represented everything that was pure in her life - her love, the beach, and just the downright ludicrous amount of love she harbors for all of her fans. She sounded great vocally and radiated nothing but positivity, and although I think I'm the only one who is going to miss the crazy Miley who slid down her own tongue and rode a giant hot dog while singing "Milky Milky Milk,"
I'm genuinely happy for her and the new direction she's taking after watching this first performance. When Miley's in love, everyone's in love.
