Interpol's Paul Banks and Wu-Tang Clan's RZA combine to form NYC based alternative hip-hop duo Banks & Steelz. Following up their 2016 album, Anything But Words, the pair has released their first single of 2017, "Who Needs the World." The guitar driven instrumental that plays during RZA's intro paired with the mention of global warming and pollution suggests very early on that this song is meant to be listened to in depth. Banks & Steelz tries to stress to their audience the importance of satisfaction from happiness rather than from materialistic objects, but this political aspect of their music is nothing new. The duo's 2016 tracks "Giants" and "Gonna Make It" hold the same general theme of political expression. There has yet to be any mention of upcoming projects from Banks & Steelz, and it has been nearly a month since their appearance at Coachella, so they may already be back in the studio constructing what will most likely be a highly informative and highly opinionated record.
