Nick Murphy - "Your Time (Prod. KAYTRANADA)"
Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker) released his EP Missing Link
earlier this week and it's great. He goes on an introspective journey of creative exploration and also briefly addresses the political climate, today's technology, and relationships. This cut, produced by the wonderful KAYTRANADA, features Murphy helplessly begging for reciprocation and sensual, smooth beats laid down by KAYTRANADA.
Tei Shi - "Say You Do"
I saw Tei Shi earlier this week at Rough Trade in Brooklyn
and while she played a lot of great songs off of her debut record Crawl Space,
I realized that this one is my favorite. It sounds like a throwback pop track, and any gal can relate.
Father John Misty - "Strange Encounter"
In addition to Tei Shi, I saw Josh Tillman live in concert at Kings Theater this week, and I feel like I haven't stopped talking about it since. This song is so powerful live and I think it's a staple in Misty's discography.
Bleachers - "Don't Take The Money"
I'm a fan of anything Jack Antonoff does. He associates himself with great creative forces (Lorde, Lena Dunham) and I naturally have a soft side for NJ natives. Also knowing that he produces most of the work himself makes me love it even more.
Calvin Harris ft. Future, Khalid - "Rollin"
"Slide" part 2 anyone? I'm down... And so excited for this upcoming star-studded LP.
Miley Cyrus - "Malibu"
This isn't the Miley that we have learned to know and love over the past four or so years. I don't see any twerking or booty popping
! The song is all about Miley's love for fiancee, Liam Hemsworth. "Malibu" is unexpected and sweet, and as of yesterday, my new summer jam.
Perfume Genius - "Slip Away"
I just heard the newest episode of the podcast Song Exploder which featured this song and it brought tears to my eyes. The song is surprisingly poppy for Perfume Genius aka Mike Hadreas. I love how the production takes an unexpected turn right before the chorus. It's beautiful and still completely unique.
Mura Masa - "What If I Go"
We love Mura Masa here at Baeble. When I heard this banger, I was instantly hooked. The beat drop at the chorus will make you lose your mind.
Nick Murphy - "Forget About Me"
Nick Murphy is back and we've missed him dearly. This song has a robotic, funky feel to it. You can't help but move when it comes on.
Harry Styles - "Sign of the Times"
I've been listening to "Sign of the Times" all week in anticipation for Harry Styles' debut self-titled album released today. It's so not what you'd expect from the once teen boy band sensation turned solo acclaimed rock star. And have you seen his music video
? Styles literally takes flight. It's awesome, and actually, not corny at all!
