Arcade Fire teamed up with the inventive artist Chris Milk again, this time at their Coachella performance (Chris helped them do
this gem of a music video. Milk and his team (ESKI and Moment Factory) devised and constructed LED lit bouncy balls to drop on the crowd during "Wake Up", which could then be controlled remotely via IR transmitters to create a real-time light painting across the audience. Check out a preview video below of the interactive performance piece, entitled
Summer Into Dust:
The gang is tracking the balls wherever they ended up, asking the lucky few in possession of one to send pictures and stories. Later this month The Creator's Project will release a short film on the planning and execution of
Summer Into Dust. Ball puns are sure to ensue, if they haven't been dropped already.
