Southern Californian Alternative rock band Half The Animal
are kicking off a beautiful Spring weekend with a track that's sure to get the serotonin speeding through the body, finding it's ways to all the good spots. Take a hit and you'll find "Too Late" to be a bright and shimmery summer anthem (it's never too early); it's got the kind of drive that'll have you burying the needle in the speedometer, upbeat disco beats that'll move the body, those airry, Diplo/Bieber-inspired vocal samples dancing the background, and a crescendo that builds to final declarations of, "It's too late...to turn back around/It's too late to make it all right, let's burn it all down". Said singer Chase Johnson of the song, "Too Late" is the little voice in your head tellin' you to pack it up and move on". Ah, yes...there's no denying the initial adrenaline that comes from blowing something that's not working anymore up and starting over. It's the best feeling...uh, until it's not. But maybe that's the B Side that's coming? Who knows, who cares, we're not thinking about the consequences now. We're just living in the moment...so crank, "Too Late".
Off the power of their 2016 single "Babylon", we invited the band to bring a few songs by our studio last spring. We knew a little bit about Chase's roll in the iconic MTV "Reality Show" Laguna Beach. But we can vouch that he's as real as can be...and he looks good in shades. To be honest, it was the kind of session where, after the boys played, we just kind of...I dunno...wanted them to stay and hang out for a while? You can check that full session below.
The band has been together for a few years...a "reunion" of sorts between Johnson and drummer Nick Gross. They've had some high profile tours, dropped singles like the aforementioned "Babylon" and "Bad Bad Love"; both of which have churned streams in all of the places you want to. Now it sounds like Half The Animal is preparing for an epic 2018, with "Too Late" hopefully being the launching pad for a full-length album, a tour, and worldwide streaming domination.
