Apart from the 2015 release of their song "Sunshine on my Back," The National
have been relatively flying under the radar since their 2013 album, Trouble Will Find Me.
Now, nearly 4 years after their last LP release, the band returns with their seventh album together, Sleep Well Beast.
The album, set to be released on September 8th through 4AD, features their most recent track "The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness," which also comes along with a video directed by Casey Reas. The song presents itself as a melancholic address with just enough upbeat instrumental solos to make a track about loneliness surprisingly danceable. The National has managed to create a comeback track that doubles as the perfect soundtrack to a late night drive as well as a song to get you thinking about the mass of emotions you work so hard to keep repressed. This seems to truly be a speciality of theirs.
