Imagine growing up in LA, receiving a vintage guitar from Ry Cooder at the age of 9, and having The Red Hot Chili Peppers' John Frusciante take you on as his only student at the age of 16. Such was the case for Robert Francis; a guitar playing prodigy who is now focused on a promising career as a singer-songwriter. Francis will release his label debut Strangers in the First Place this May via Vanguard Records.

In the run-up, we're premiering an acoustic performance video captured at the historic Boulevard Recording Studio in Hollywood with videographer Abbey Linne. Given Francis' guitar slinging background, "Alibi" is a bit more restrained than you would expect. In fact, what's really up and front is Francis' crooning, tenor...like some newbie, West Coast Leonard Cohen (though he open things up just a bit towards the end of the tune).
