Flume Breathes Life Back Into Sam Smith

"Latch" is a pretty easy choice for one of my top 10 tracks of the 2010s. It might even pierce my top 5 -- although five and a half years into the decade now, it's got some stiff competition there. There's only been a single track this decade that's a more perfect pairing of a producer's beats and an artist's powerful, shimmering voice, and that was "Climax." And it's hard to beat the 2010s best song on any front (Yeah, we're picking "Climax" as the track of the decade thus far. Come at us.).

Much like Lana Del Rey though, Sam Smith has an extraordinary voice that is then paired with utterly forgettable production on his own records. Thank the electronic gods then that Flume tackled a remix of Smith's "Lay Me Down." I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I'll take this over the original any day.
