As some of you might've heard already, Adele
is throwing in the towel and has announced that she's taking an extended break from touring. Just for a DECADE or so. The 28-year-old has admitted that touring has never been in her "bag" and that stage fright is still much an issue for the singer-songwriter. Since releasing 21
in 2011, Adele has remained in the spotlight, only gaining more fame and attention as the years went on. Now, with the release of 25
back in 2015, then she got married and
had a baby, it's very understandable why the new mama needs a long break. This doesn't mean the is done making music, but you can't blame her for wanting to be a full-time mum to her son, Angelo.
We know you'll miss her. But don't worry, we've compiled a list of artists similar to Adele.
6. Ella Eyre
Ella Eyre is a fellow Brit with deep warm, honey vocals, just like Adele. With influences like Etta James, Lauryn Hill and Hans Zimmer, the 24-year-old has a unique sound but her soulful, sassy vocals make her an artist that needs to be on your radar.
5. Andra Day
Fun fact: Andra Day had her first big breakthrough because of Stevie Wonder. Yup. In 2010, Stevie's ex-wife, Kai Millard Morris, heard Andra Day singing in a strip mall and brought it to Stevie's attention, who connected Day to a producer. She has a retro-soul/R&B thing going and if you were to combine the voices of Dinah Washington, Amy Winehouse, and Rihanna, you'd get Andra Day.
4. Leela James
Leela James channels the soul singers of the 60s and 70s. What makes Leela James unique is her style of blending soul with contemporary R&B, funk, and gospel into her soul. And there's no denying this woman can sing. Watch our intimate session with Leela James in our Baeble office and see for yourself.
3. Corinne Bailey Rae
Here's another British vocalist that can sing her soulful heart out. Leeds-native, Corinne Bailey Rae, grew up on Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Lenny Kravitz while singing in her church's choir so her unique gritty soul-root R&B music is absolutely
something you need in your life.
2. Nathan Sykes
recognize Nathan Sykes as being the youngest member of the British boy band, The Wanted. But let us tell you, this former boy band member grew up and this new, solo thing is working out for him pretty well. The 23-year-old has pop-infused, R&B sound with the voice of an angel.
If you want an artist who has as much emotion, passion and soul in their vocals as Adele - who can also create some tear-jerker songs - Frances is your girl. The 23-year-old is also a fellow UK singer-songwriter. Some may even call her a young Adele.
