    Not counting Adele (who had without question the biggest 2011 as a woman in music), two of the most successful female-fronted rock acts to make their mark last year were tUnE-yArDs and St. Vincent. w h o k i l l and Strange Mercy were two of the best reviewed albums of 2011. As part of a new series from Noisey called "Back and Forth," tUnE-yArDs' Merril Garbus and St. Vincent's Annie Clarke have a tete-a-tete over sexism in the way we discuss women in music, their shared punk influences, and their touring schedules. It turns out that Annie Clark has one hell of a filthy mouth, and somehow that only makes her more cool.
