Scarlett Parade's 'White River' Fantasy

One of my favorite things about My Head Is An Animal, 2012's debut record from Icelandic folk rockers Of Monsters and Men, was that it made lyrical fantasy allusions cool again for the first time since peak-Zeppelin/peak-Rush. "King and Lionheart" is not the sort of song that's taking place in the modern world. And British folk rock act, Scarlett Parade, are part of that illustrious tradition.

We're premiering their track, "White River," today, and in the band's own words, "This is our four-minute 'epic fantasy composition. A tale of a central hero character, now aged, recalling of how long ago he was called upon to defend his city and its people but at a cost. We were inspired by Game of Thrones and The Name of the Wind." With gorgeous male/female vocals, classic strings, and a propulsive piano line, "White River" is worth your time today.
