1. Aaron Carter says that he "basically has an eating disorder."
I know I tend to side with people we're not rooting for, but sorry, I'm doing it again: I feel bad for Aaron Carter. This is a dude who had such a monstrous music career when he was only like two years old, and after his career died years ago, he is still
trying to make it. I mean, "I Want Candy,"?! How are you supposed to recover from a hit like that?!
A couple of weeks ago, Carter played a show at the pool area of the Flamingo in Las Vegas (tell ma he made it). He never really makes me swoon, and maybe it was partially all of the acid wash he was wearing, but he didn't look so hot. He looked thin - thinner than usual.
People were saying that he looked skinny AF, and so he took to Twitter to respond, explaining that he was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia, which "basically gives [him] an eating disorder." Now, maybe that hernia causes a loss of appetite, but comparing it to an eating disorder might be a little... Dramatic?
I'm not a doctor and I don't know what I'm talking about, but a hiatal hernia is basically a "thing" that pushes on your stomach or something, so it's uncomfortable. Like I was saying, I really do feel bad for Aaron. Not only is everything going to shit for him in the public eye, but he also can't enjoy a damn cheeseburger after the show. And in Las Vegas. I know if I was there I'd be eating all of the trash food in sight. Give me the fries!
2. Did Sony drop Dr. Luke?
Brace yourselves for this one - there's a lot of back and forth. Neither Sony or Dr. Luke have spoken about anything that has happened, but basically, Sony did not "free Kesha" last year. However, it looks like they might have freed Dr. Luke (who is not a real doctor by the way) shortly after he filed his own claim for defamation. The Hollywood Reporter
says that one source says Sony and Luke are negotiating a split. Another source says that they are not. One thing we know for sure, though, is that according to court papers, he is no longer the CEO of Kemosabe Records, a label he started with Sony a few years back in 2011. His page on Sony's website has also been deleted.
It looks like Sony just doesn't want to be associated with these guys anymore...However, although this sounds like it's good for Kesha doesn't mean that it is. This might be more collateral for Luke in his aforementioned defamation case, or it could mean that Kesha loses Sony as a middle man between her and Luke, since her contract is coming to an end (and so did Luke's in March). Looks like the only person who wins in this situation, although still damaged, is Sony. They're like the parent of two bickering children but then the children go off to college and the parent is like "fucking finally, now I can have a clean house and go back to living my own stress-free life."
3. Demi Lovato sells out and endorses laxative tea.
I was talking about this story with a coworker before I started writing about it. I said, "Demi Lovato sold out," and then my coworker asked, "but can
Demi Lovato sell out?" The answer is yes, she can. I know because she's a pop star who wears tiny outfits and sings generic top 40 songs which is enough in itself to prove that she has "sold out," but let's not forget that she's an advocate for healthy living. A few years ago, she came out about her eating disorder, which she's had since she was very young, claiming that she "almost stopped eating altogether at the age of 12
." She called famous people out on their celebrity bullshit, basically saying that there's lots of body-shaming and yadda yadda. She is one of the few celebs that isn't stick
thin (but still looks faaaabulous
) and it seemed that, for quite some time, Demi was hit with a reality check and she was making sure everyone had a realistic perception of what's normal and what's not.
Demi almost completely shut down this concept when she posted a photo on Instagram of her holding detox tea. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it is.
If you don't know, this is the tea that all of the E! Online celebrities, like Kylie Jenner and Amber Rose, endorse on their Instas:
This "tea wrap" looks like something Kylie Jenner would use... But not our girl Demi, who posted this, with the most promotional caption ever, "This year is all about #selflove. truly taking care of myself and exercising has changed everything for me. @teamiblends has #sponsored my 30 day detox challenge to help get rid of toxins and my bloating for summer. I'm on Day 7 right now & it's so easy! I just drink their tea every single day in my favorite purple tumbler. I love taking it to shoots and the studio with me. If you are ready to be your best YOU this summer, use my Code: DEMI for 20% off your detox program when you check out!
