P!nk Gives What Is Possibly The Performance Of The Year

When people hear that I'm a huge P!nk fan, their initial response is usually, "there is no way you like P!nk." I understand why people say that - I'm a grown man who loves sports and politics - not Top 40 pop music. But let me just say this: it is impossible for anyone not to love this pop super star, and last night at the BB&T Center down in Florida, I witnessed what was possibly the concert of the year. The performance P!nk put on was without a doubt the strongest musical performance I have seen in a very long time. We live in a day and age where "the best ever" soon becomes forgotten after the moment passes but truly, this is a show that sticks.

During her Beautiful Trauma show, I witnessed something that most artists don't have the guts to pull off. Opening the night with "Get The Party Started," the singer swung from an oversized chandelier that probably would have been more appropriate in a hotel lobby. And not only did she make it look easy, she also belted out lyrics like it was a walk in the park. She can sing and do acrobatics.

The evening was filled with message after message, yet it never felt too preachy. If you're like me and don't typically love banter in between songs, you'll probably feel different for this show. She incorporated her messages about various issues into everything smoothly, really seeming like motherhood has softened her. This was especially evident during "Secrets," "Try," "What About Us," and "Raise Your Glass." And of course it helped that she had a ton of hit tracks to spread out in between. Seriously, sometimes we forget just how much good music P!nk has put out. The woman has hits.
