We always knew Lorde
wasn't just any popstar, but now we have a rockstar to prove it to us. In an interview with Rolling Stone
, Dave Grohl praised Lorde as having the "Nirvana aesthetic," Along with the likes of St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, and Joan Jett, Lorde performed with Nirvana for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction performance. Grohl talked to Rolling Stone
about his justification for choosing Lorde for the honor of standing in for Kurt Cobain. In an adorable family scene Grohl describes the first time he heard Lorde's "Royals", he was "so happy and relieved that my two girls were singing a popular song on the radio that had some substance and depth, which I considered to be healthy for them as kids. I know that sounds kind of parent-ish." It does sound kind of parent-ish Dave, but its also super cute. Like a proud parent, Grohl told the hugely successful 17 year old Lorde at the ceremony that thanks to her music he felt like there was hope for my kids to grow up in an environment which is more than just superficial." If people don't stop saying awesome things about this girl she might develop a narcissism problem, probably a completely justified one though.
